Alan Ampudia Wins the Baja 500

Alan Ampudia and Toyo Tires claimed the overall win at the 57th SCORE Baja 500, continuing a dominant run in 2025 with back-to-back victories in the first two rounds of the SCORE World Desert Championship. This latest win marks Ampudia’s third consecutive overall victory dating back to the 2024 SCORE Baja 1000 and places him among an elite group of racers who have accomplished the coveted ‘Baja Triple Crown’ by winning the SCORE Baja 1000, Baja 500, and San Felipe 250. Additionally, Gustavo Vildósola Sr. took third overall and first in the SCORE Trophy Truck Legends class, extending his race win streak to 14 consecutive victories in a row. Both drivers continue to lead this year’s championship standings in their respective classes. In the Trophy Truck Spec class, Justin Davis repeated his amazing performance from last year, securing back-to-back class victories at the SCORE Baja 500.  

The SCORE Baja 500 featured a demanding 461.03-mile racecourse, with the start and finish taking place in Ensenada, Mexico. Known as the ‘Off-Road Capital of the World,’ Ensenada hosted thousands of drivers, crews, and spectators from around the globe, all eager to experience one of off-road racing’s most iconic events. Qualifying in the fifth position in the Trophy Truck class, Ampudia and his #1 Monster Energy / Toyo Tires AWD Mason Motorsports Ford Raptor were in an ideal position to execute their early-race strategy. Relying on championship-winning Toyo Open Country® M/T-R tires, he balanced speed with durability, capitalizing on the course as he made his way to the front of the field. Crossing the finish line, Ampudia posted an official winning time of 8 hours, 39 minutes, and 34 seconds.

Gustavo Vildósola Sr. and his #1L Mason Motorsports / Toyo Tires / Vildosola Racing / Ford Raptor secured their second victory in 2025 for Team Toyo over the weekend. Vildósola Sr. qualified first in the Trophy Truck Legends class and went on to claim his outstanding 14th consecutive race win, crossing the finish line with an official time of 9 hours, 19 minutes, and 41 seconds.

Justin Davis and his #285 Green Army Team TSCO-Chevy truck secured back-to-back Trophy Truck Spec class titles at the SCORE Baja 500. Repeating his dominant drive from last season, Davis was poised to take the top of the podium, finishing with an official time of 9 hours, 31 minutes, and 0 seconds.

“It feels great to finally get the Baja 500 win to add to our trophies,” said Alan Ampudia. “Thanks to our dependable Toyo Tires, we didn’t have any tire issues which helped us secure the win!”

“We had a perfect day on course, zero punctures and zero problems which led us to our 14th win,” said Gustavo Vildósola Sr. “We are definitely ready for the next race and gearing up to win another one!”

Alan Ampudia’s most recent Trophy Truck win makes it six SCORE Baja 500 wins for Toyo Tires, with victories from Ampudia (2025), Bryce Menzies (2023), Andy McMillin (2017 and 2019), Tavo Vildósola (2016), and Robby Gordon (2013). Additionally, Team Toyo has won the SCORE Baja 1000 six times: Alan Ampudia in (2024 and 2019), Bryce Menzies (2023), BJ Baldwin (2012 and 2013), and Robby Gordon (2006); the SCORE San Felipe 250 four times: Alan Ampudia (2024 and 2025), Bryce Menzies (2021), and Andy McMillin (2019): and the SCORE Baja 400 four times: Bryce Menzies (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024).
